AstraZeneca has discontinued production of Foscavir (foscarnet sodium injection). The remaining inventory is expected to be depleted by April 30, 2009 after which AstraZeneca has no further plans to manufacture or distribute Foscavir.

Foscavir is indicated for the treatment of CMV retinitis in AIDS patients and mucocutaneous acyclovir-resistant HSV infections in immunocompromised patients.
